Ticket insurance from Tryg

Checkin offers ticket insurance that provides safer ticket purchases for participants and reduces the number of refund requests. This incurs no costs or extra work for you as the organizer, as participants handle refunds directly with Tryg.

How does it work?

In collaboration with Tryg insurance, we can offer your participants the opportunity to purchase insurance in connection with their ticket order. With ticket insurance, they have the assurance that they can get a full refund of their ticket purchase if situations arise, such as illness, transportation problems on the way to the event, or other unforeseen events that prevent them from attending.

The cost of the insurance amounts to 10% of the order total and is valid from the time of purchase until the event starts. For example, if a ticket costs 1000 kroner, the insurance will cost 100 kroner. If the insurance is used, the entire order will be reimbursed, including costs for accommodations, ticket fees, and any additional options.

In the order window in Checkin, you can see if the participant has taken out insurance. This will not be included in the fee calculation and will only function as a zero entry in the invoice.

Does it cost you as the organizer anything?

No, this offer can actually help save costs for you, as you no longer need to handle ticket refunds. The insurance reduces the risk for the participants and can encourage them to purchase tickets earlier. We have observed a trend in recent years where ticket purchases happen late in the registration period, and we hope this offer can help change that statistic.

What happens if someone wants to use the insurance?

When a participant purchases insurance, they enter into an agreement with Tryg. After the purchase, they will receive an email with instructions on how to use the insurance if needed. The participant will then contact Tryg directly, meaning you as the organizer won’t have any additional tasks related to this. Anything related to the financial settlement is handled between Tryg and the ticket buyer, so the organizer doesn’t need to do anything.

It’s important to note that the insurance is only valid if it has been paid.

What happens to unused tickets?

It is important to note that participants who use the insurance are not automatically deregistered in Checkin. We recommend including this in your terms, especially if it is crucial for you that participants cancel their registration.

You can easily check if a participant has purchased insurance by reviewing the orders in Checkin. If someone contacts you to cancel their registration, you can use the option "Cancel" → "No refund." The participant will then be marked as deregistered, while you retain the full revenue from the ticket sale.

How will it look for the participant?

There will be a new step in the registration process where ticket buyers must decide whether they want insurance for their ticket(s) or not. Here is how this will appear to those purchasing tickets:

Who can use the insurance?

The insurance can be used by both private individuals and for bookings made on behalf of a company.

The insurance has a maximum coverage of NOK 30,000 per ticket, with a minimum amount of NOK 100. For corporate bookings (B2B), the maximum coverage is NOK 150,000.

With ticket insurance, participants have peace of mind knowing that they can receive a full refund for their ticket purchase in case of unforeseen events, such as illness, transportation issues on the way to the event, or other situations that prevent them from attending.

My event is abroad and/or has international participants. Can they use the ticket insurance?

There are no requirements for Norwegian citizenship or a Norwegian residential address to use the ticket insurance. Events can be held abroad, but please note that the cancellation insurance is only valid for tickets purchased through the Norwegian system. This also applies to travel from Norway to other countries.
